Monivo vs Uniswap
Uniswap is an on-chain AMM: connect a wallet, approve a token and trade inside one EVM chain. Monivo is a cross-chain swap aggregator that prices every route across multiple providers and settles wallet to wallet with no connection or signature. Here's how they compare on rates, privacy, coverage and custody.
| Feature | Monivo | Uniswap |
|---|---|---|
| Model | Cross-chain swap aggregator (best of N quotes) | On-chain AMM DEX |
| Account required | No | No |
| KYC / ID check | Only for card fiat on-ramp | None |
| Wallet connection | Not needed — send from any wallet or exchange | Must connect a wallet and sign |
| Cross-chain swaps | Native BTC, XMR, TON, SOL and 30+ networks | Within supported EVM chains; bridging needed otherwise |
| Non-EVM assets (BTC, XMR) | Supported natively | Only wrapped representations |
| Fee model | Provider quote, no added Monivo spread | Pool fee + gas + possible slippage/MEV |
| Gas costs | Paid by the provider on payout side | Paid by you on every approval and swap |
| Long-tail EVM tokens | 1,250+ listed assets | Any token with a pool, including brand-new ones |
| Price transparency | Quoted payout before you send | Quote can move between signing and inclusion |
| Onchain composability | N/A | LP positions, routing, onchain integrations |
Rates and fees
A Uniswap trade costs the pool fee tier plus network gas, and on thin pools the realised price can drift from the quote through slippage or MEV. On mainnet, an approval plus a swap during busy blocks can cost more than the trade itself for small amounts.
Monivo quotes each swap against multiple liquidity providers and shows the payout you will receive before you send anything. There is no Monivo spread on top of the provider price, and you pay only the network fee to send your deposit — the payout-side network fee sits with the provider.
For same-chain swaps of large amounts in deep pools, Uniswap is often excellent. For cross-chain moves or smaller tickets where gas dominates, the aggregated quote usually delivers more.
No-KYC and privacy
Neither venue asks for identity documents for crypto-to-crypto swaps, but the privacy profiles are different. A Uniswap trade is a public onchain event permanently linked to the wallet that signed it, so it joins the rest of that address's history.
Monivo needs no wallet connection, no signature and no account. You send a deposit from any wallet or exchange and name a separate destination address, so the two sides do not have to share an identity onchain. Only the card fiat on-ramp triggers verification, because the payment processor requires it.
That difference matters most for Monero and other privacy assets, which cannot trade on an EVM DEX in their native form at all.
Coverage and networks
Uniswap is unbeatable for long-tail ERC-20s: if a pool exists, the token is tradeable within minutes of launch. But it lives inside EVM chains — Bitcoin, Monero, TON and Solana assets appear only as wrapped or bridged representations, and moving between chains means adding a bridge with its own risk and fees.
Monivo spans 1,250+ assets across 30+ networks and treats cross-chain as the default case: BTC to XMR, XMR to USDC on Optimism, SOL to ETH on Arbitrum are ordinary swaps. The destination network is an explicit choice at checkout, and a runtime guard blocks any provider that cannot deliver on it, so a token tagged for Arbitrum cannot land on mainnet by accident.
Custody and security
Both models avoid a custodial account balance. Uniswap's risk surface is contract-level and user-level: token approvals, malicious token contracts, spoofed pools and MEV sandwiching around your transaction.
Monivo's risk surface is the liquidity provider handling the leg between deposit and payout. Funds are never held by Monivo — the provider pays out directly to the address you supplied — and every order carries a public status page so you can track settlement. The trade-off is the same on both sides: a mistyped destination address cannot be reversed.
Verdict
For long-tail ERC-20s and same-chain trades in deep pools, Uniswap is hard to beat. For anything crossing chains — native BTC, XMR, TON or Solana assets — Monivo removes the bridge, the approvals and the gas overhead, and shows the exact payout before you send.
Pick Monivo if…
- You're swapping across chains or into native BTC/XMR
- You'd rather not connect a wallet or sign approvals
- You want a fixed quoted payout before you send
Pick Uniswap if…
- You're trading a brand-new long-tail ERC-20
- You're doing a large same-chain trade in a deep pool
- You need onchain composability or LP positions
FAQ
Can I swap Bitcoin or Monero on Uniswap?
Not natively. Uniswap trades tokens on EVM chains, so Bitcoin appears only as a wrapped token like WBTC and Monero has no native representation at all. Monivo swaps native BTC and XMR in both directions.
Is Monivo cheaper than Uniswap?
It depends on size and chain. On deep pools with large amounts, a direct Uniswap trade can be very efficient. For smaller tickets where gas and approvals dominate, or for anything cross-chain where you would otherwise bridge, Monivo's multi-provider quote usually leaves you with more.
Do I need to connect a wallet to Monivo?
No. You paste a destination address and send your deposit from any wallet or exchange. There is no connection prompt, no signature and no token approval.
Which is more private?
Monivo, in practice. A Uniswap trade is a public onchain action signed by your wallet and tied to its full history. A Monivo swap separates the sending address from the receiving one and requires no account for crypto-to-crypto conversions.
When is Uniswap the better choice?
For brand-new or long-tail ERC-20 tokens that no aggregator lists yet, for same-chain trades in deep pools, and for anything that needs onchain composability such as providing liquidity or routing inside a smart contract.
