The story behind Conflux

Researchers from Tsinghua University, including students of Turing Award winner Andrew Yao, founded Conflux and launched its mainnet in 2020 with backing from Chinese state-affiliated institutions, a rare arrangement for a public, permissionless blockchain given China's broader restrictions on cryptocurrency.

The project went on to work with China Telecom on initiatives including blockchain-enabled SIM cards, embedding its technology into infrastructure most crypto projects would have no access to.

What CFX is used for

CFX pays transaction fees on the network, is staked by participants securing the chain, and is used in on-chain governance votes. The chain also runs an EVM-compatible execution space alongside its native tree-graph layer, aimed at supporting cross-border and enterprise applications that need Ethereum tooling compatibility without leaving the Conflux ecosystem.

Conflux in the market today

Conflux sits at the mid-to-small-cap end of the market, and its price reacts strongly to regulatory news out of China and Hong Kong, a sensitivity no other major public chain shares quite as directly given how rare its government-linked position is. That same relationship is also its biggest structural risk: a shift in Chinese policy toward crypto could affect Conflux far more directly than it would a chain with no comparable ties.
