The story behind ether.fi

ether. fi launched in 2023 with a pointed answer to Lido's dominant model: why should staking require trusting someone else with your keys? By letting stakers retain non-custodial control while still receiving a liquid, tradable token representing their stake, it carved out a distinct position just as EigenLayer's restaking concept was taking off and pulling enormous capital into the sector.

ETHFI itself launched in March 2024, and the protocol later expanded into a cash card product that lets users spend against the value of their staked collateral without unstaking it.
