Buy Ethereum with no KYC

Every exchange that sells ETH for dollars asks for a passport. Swapping crypto you already hold does not. This guide covers the account-free route into ETH, how to time gas, whether to take delivery on mainnet or an L2, and where to receive so the coins stay yours.

The route that skips verification

A non-custodial exchange never holds a balance for you, so there is no account to open and nothing to verify. You send a deposit, it pays out ETH to the address you supplied, and the order is done. Monivo quotes every connected no-KYC provider on the same pair at once and routes to whichever pays the most ETH after fees.

  1. 1. Choose your deposit asset. BTC, USDT, LTC and XMR are the most common starting points for ETH.
  2. 2. Paste an ETH address. A 0x… address from a wallet whose seed phrase you control — never an exchange deposit address.
  3. 3. Confirm the network. Ethereum mainnet by default; only pick Arbitrum, Base or Optimism if that is genuinely where you want the funds.
  4. 4. Pick fixed or floating. ETH is deeply liquid, so floating usually pays better outside volatile hours.

Gas, timing and what it actually costs

The provider pays the payout gas, so a busy mainnet shows up as a wider quote rather than a separate line item. Base fees swing hardest during US trading hours; weekends and the early UTC morning are consistently cheaper. If you plan to move the ETH onward or interact with a contract, budget for that gas too — an address holding only ERC-20 tokens and no ETH cannot transact at all.

Mainnet or Layer 2?

L2 payouts on Arbitrum, Base and Optimism settle in seconds for a few cents, which is compelling until you need the ETH back on mainnet and pay a bridge to get it there. Take delivery where you will actually use the funds. If you are unsure, mainnet is the answer — it is accepted everywhere and never needs bridging.

What no-KYC does and does not give you

It removes the identity file: no documents, no selfie, no venue holding a record that links you to the trade. It does not make Ethereum private. Every transfer from your address is public and permanently linkable, so treat the destination address as a pseudonym you are choosing to reuse. For genuine on-chain privacy, swap into Monero instead.

Common ETH routes

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy Ethereum without KYC?
Yes, by swapping crypto you already hold. A non-custodial exchange accepts your deposit and pays ETH to an address you control, with no account, no email and no identity documents. Buying ETH with a card or bank transfer always requires verification because those rails are run by regulated payment institutions.
How long does a no-KYC ETH swap take?
Usually 5 to 30 minutes end to end. Most of that is confirmation time on the deposit chain — a Bitcoin deposit waits for blocks, while a USDT transfer on Tron or Solana confirms in seconds. Once the deposit confirms, the ETH payout is typically one Ethereum block away.
Should I receive ETH on mainnet or an L2?
Mainnet is the safest default and the most widely accepted destination. Take delivery on Arbitrum, Base or Optimism only when you already use that network and your wallet supports it — payouts are cheaper there, but sending back to mainnet later costs a bridge fee that can wipe out the saving.
Do I need ETH for gas after the swap?
Yes. Any onward transaction from your Ethereum address — moving tokens, approving a contract — is paid in ETH. If you are swapping into an ERC-20 stablecoin rather than ETH itself, leave a small ETH balance in the same address or the tokens will be stuck until you fund gas.
Is a no-KYC Ethereum purchase anonymous?
No. Ethereum is a fully transparent ledger: balances, transfers and contract calls are public and permanently linkable. Skipping verification keeps your identity away from the exchange, but the transaction itself stays visible. If on-chain privacy is the requirement, Monero is the practical choice.
Which wallet should I use for no-KYC Ethereum?
Rabby and MetaMask are the common browser options, Trust Wallet and Coinbase Wallet on mobile, and Ledger or Trezor for larger balances. Hold the seed phrase yourself — sending a no-KYC swap output straight into a verified exchange account defeats the purpose of the route.
