Instant crypto exchange: how it works

An instant crypto exchange is a transaction flow, not a promise of a fixed completion time. An aggregator compares current estimates from connected providers; the provider you select issues the deposit address, temporarily holds the deposit during settlement, executes the swap, and sends the output to your wallet.

Aggregator and executing-provider flow

  1. 1. Request. You choose the pair, amount, and networks. The aggregator requests current estimates from connected providers.
  2. 2. Compare. Only responding providers appear. Compare expected delivered output, rate type, minimum, and expiry.
  3. 3. Destination. You supply a compatible wallet address and any memo or destination tag required by that wallet.
  4. 4. Provider selection. You choose an estimate. That provider—not Monivo—sets the deposit terms and executes the swap.
  5. 5. Deposit. Send the exact asset and amount on the stated network to the one-time address for that order.
  6. 6. Settlement. After required confirmations, the provider sends the output to your wallet. Keep the reference and transaction hash.

Estimate, held rate, and final output

An estimate is a current response for one pair and amount, not a universal market price. Fixed quotes hold their stated output only while their amount, expiry, and deposit-window terms are met. Floating quotes are priced at execution, so final output can move. A missing provider is unavailable for that request, not a zero-price quote.

Who holds funds during settlement

Monivo does not custody customer funds or maintain a balance. The selected third-party provider issues the deposit address and holds the deposit while executing that order. The provider then sends the output to the destination wallet. This limited settlement window is different from leaving funds in an exchange account.

When this flow fits—and when it does not

  • Use it when you already hold crypto and control a compatible destination wallet.
  • Use a regulated fiat provider instead when paying from a card or bank; identity checks apply there.
  • Do not proceed when the source or destination network is uncertain.
  • Refresh an expired estimate rather than sending against old terms.
  • Save the order reference and transaction hash for support and records.

Frequently asked questions

What is an instant crypto exchange?

It is a direct crypto-to-crypto flow where you request an estimate, send one asset to the selected provider, and receive another at your wallet. Most complete in under 10 minutes, but timing is not guaranteed.

How is an aggregator different from the executing provider?

The aggregator compares estimates. The provider you select issues the deposit address, holds the deposit during settlement, executes the swap, and sends the output.

Is the displayed output guaranteed?

Not always. Fixed quotes are subject to amount, expiry, and deposit-window terms. Floating quotes can change at execution. Read the rate type before sending.

What costs apply?

Monivo adds no separate platform fee. Provider spread and payout network costs are reflected in the estimate; your sending wallet may charge separately.

Is identity verification required?

Monivo does not run identity verification for crypto-to-crypto swaps. The executing provider applies its own AML policy and may request verification on an individual order. Fiat flows use regulated processors and require verification.
