Shielded vs transparent addresses

Zcash has transparent addresses (starting with t), which work like Bitcoin and are publicly visible, and shielded addresses, which hide amounts and parties. Privacy depends on using shielded addresses; a transparent ZEC payment is as visible as a Bitcoin one.

Some providers only pay out to transparent addresses. If you want shielded funds, receive to a wallet that supports both and shield the ZEC afterwards.

What to check before sending
