The story behind Akash Network

Greg Osuri and Adam Bozanich launched Akash in 2020 on Cosmos with a straightforward premise: the world's data centres are full of idle capacity, and cloud pricing is set by three companies. A reverse auction lets providers compete for each deployment. Nobody paid much attention until 2023, when GPU scarcity made 'somewhere else to rent an H100' a genuine business, and Akash opened GPU leases to the public.
