The story behind Aptos

Aptos was founded by engineers who had worked on Meta's abandoned Diem project, formerly known as Libra — the social network's attempt to launch its own global stablecoin, shut down under regulatory pressure before it ever shipped. Aptos inherited Move from that effort, a resource-oriented language designed specifically to make it harder to accidentally duplicate or destroy a digital token, and launched its own mainnet in October 2022.

Since then it has pursued partnerships with payments companies and financial institutions rather than chasing retail speculation alone.
