The story behind Nexo

Launched in 2018 by a team with a European consumer-lending background, Nexo made crypto-backed credit lines a retail product and then survived the year that killed its peers. In 2022, as Celsius, BlockFi and Voyager collapsed, Nexo continued honouring withdrawals — the single most important fact in its history. It settled with US regulators in 2023 over its Earn product and withdrew it from the United States, refocusing on other markets.

What NEXO is used for

Nexo lets holders borrow stablecoins against crypto collateral without selling, and pays interest on deposits. NEXO is used for tier qualification, fee payment and loyalty benefits, with the company periodically buying tokens back.
