About Pi (PI)

Layer-1 blockchain

Pi (PI) is the coin of Pi Network, a project that distributed tokens through a phone app where users tapped a daily button to 'mine' rather than running any dedicated hardware, in an attempt to make crypto ownership accessible to people who would never buy a mining rig.

The story behind Pi

Stanford PhDs Nicolas Kokkalis and Chengdiao Fan founded Pi Network in 2019 and grew it to tens of millions of app users during a long testnet phase, one where coins accumulated inside the app but could not actually be moved anywhere else — a design that built a huge user base while deferring the hardest questions about the token's real value.

The open mainnet finally launched in February 2025, enabling external transfers for the first time and, with them, the first exchange listings.

What PI is used for

Pi is intended for peer-to-peer payments and purchases within its own app ecosystem, the vision being a payments network built entirely around the mobile-mining community it accumulated over years. Before your accumulated balance can migrate from the app to the open mainnet, though, you are required to complete identity verification checks, a gate that has slowed how much of that claimed user base actually becomes active on-chain.

Pi in the market today

Pi has an exceptionally large claimed holder count, a legacy of years of app-based distribution, but its supply schedule continues releasing coins steadily rather than being fixed. Its price has been volatile since exchange listings opened in 2025, reflecting genuine uncertainty about how much of that enormous user base will ever transact on the actual blockchain rather than simply having downloaded an app.

How to buy or swap PI

  1. Pick PI as the asset you want to receive.
  2. Choose what you're paying with — crypto or a fiat card.
  3. Monivo compares every connected exchange and routes your order to the best available rate.
  4. Paste your wallet address and confirm — funds arrive in minutes.

Fees and pricing

Monivo does not add a separate platform fee. The quoted receive amount reflects the executing provider's pricing and applicable payout costs. Your sending wallet or exchange may charge its own network or withdrawal fee. The amount shown is an estimate; fixed and floating quotes follow the provider's terms.

Monivo does not add a separate platform fee. Some partner quotes include a small affiliate margin that is retained by Monivo as a referral commission; this margin is included in the rate shown, not added on top. Provider spreads and applicable network costs are also reflected in the quoted amount.

Network fees are set by the blockchain, not by Monivo. No account, no subscription and no withdrawal charge. Live support is available 24/7.
