Yonatan Sompolinsky's GHOST paper, cited in Ethereum's own original white paper, laid the theoretical groundwork years before Kaspa existed, and when he and the team at Daglabs finally launched the network in November 2021, they did it with no premine and no allocation set aside for insiders or founders — a fair-launch structure closer to Bitcoin's own origins than most modern chains attempt.

The block rate has since climbed from one to ten per second, with further increases planned through an ongoing rewrite of the client in Rust.
