About Beam (BEAM)

Privacy coin

Beam (BEAM) is a Mimblewimble-based cryptocurrency in which every transaction is confidential by default, and the blockchain itself stays compact over time because spent outputs can simply be pruned away rather than stored forever.

The story behind Beam

Beam launched in January 2019, just days after a rival project called Grin, as one of the first two production implementations of the Mimblewimble protocol — a scheme an anonymous author had sketched out in 2016 for compressing a blockchain's history while still hiding transaction details. Unlike Grin, which stayed a volunteer effort with no company behind it, Beam was built by a firm with an actual treasury to fund ongoing work, and it later expanded into smart contracts and a confidential DeFi layer built on top of its original privacy design.

What BEAM is used for

You would use BEAM for private transfers that leave no visible addresses or amounts on the public chain at all, and its confidential asset framework lets other tokens be issued with that same privacy baked in, extending the underlying technology beyond just the native coin.

Beam in the market today

Beam is a small-cap privacy coin, more notable for proving Mimblewimble could actually work in production than for its trading volume today. It remains a niche choice next to the far larger Monero and Zcash, and its long-term relevance likely depends more on the ideas it demonstrated than on the coin itself gaining wider adoption.

How to buy or swap BEAM

  1. Pick BEAM as the asset you want to receive.
  2. Choose what you're paying with — crypto or a fiat card.
  3. Monivo compares every connected exchange and routes your order to the best available rate.
  4. Paste your wallet address and confirm — funds arrive in minutes.

Fees and pricing

Zero added fees: Monivo does not add a platform fee, a minimum or a withdrawal charge — the rate you see is the rate you get. Blockchain network fees are shown in full before you confirm, and the final amount you receive is quoted up front.

Monivo does not add a separate fee or markup to the provider quote. Monivo may earn a commission from the liquidity provider when a completed swap is referred through our platform. Provider spreads and applicable network costs are reflected in the quoted amount.

Network fees are set by the blockchain, not by Monivo. No account, no subscription and no withdrawal charge. Live support is available 24/7.
