About BitTorrent [New] (BTT)

Payments token

BitTorrent (BTT) is the token that adds payments to the BitTorrent file-sharing protocol, rewarding peers who keep seeding files longer than they otherwise would, and it also serves as gas on the BitTorrent Chain scaling network.

The story behind BitTorrent [New]

Tron acquired BitTorrent Inc. in 2018 and issued BTT in early 2019, wiring a token-based incentive layer into a protocol that already had hundreds of millions of existing users, an unusually large base for a crypto project to inherit rather than build from scratch. A 2022 redenomination replaced the original token with BTTC at a 1,000-to-1 ratio, a change made partly to give the token a more workable unit size, and alongside it launched the BitTorrent Chain sidechain connecting the ecosystem to other major networks.

What BTT is used for

Within the torrent client, BTT is what you spend to get faster downloads and to reward peers for continuing to seed files after most people would have stopped, addressing one of file-sharing's oldest problems: once you have your file, why keep uploading for strangers? As gas on BitTorrent Chain, BTT also pays for transactions on a cross-chain scaling network connected to Tron, Ethereum and BNB Chain.

BitTorrent [New] in the market today

BTT carries an enormous circulating supply and a correspondingly tiny unit price, a structural feature rather than a sign of weakness, but one that can confuse newcomers comparing raw token prices across assets. Its market activity remains closely tied to the wider Tron ecosystem's fortunes, since Tron's founder and infrastructure sit behind both projects.

How to buy or swap BTT

  1. Pick BTT as the asset you want to receive.
  2. Choose what you're paying with — crypto or a fiat card.

Fees and pricing

Zero added fees: Monivo does not add a platform fee, a minimum or a withdrawal charge — the rate you see is the rate you get. Blockchain network fees are shown in full before you confirm, and the final amount you receive is quoted up front.

Monivo does not add a separate fee or markup to the provider quote. Monivo may earn a commission from the liquidity provider when a completed swap is referred through our platform. Provider spreads and applicable network costs are reflected in the quoted amount.

Network fees are set by the blockchain, not by Monivo. No account, no subscription and no withdrawal charge. Live support is available 24/7.
