About Ethena (ENA)

Synthetic dollar governance token

Ethena (ENA) governs the protocol behind USDe, a large synthetic dollar that holds its peg not through bank reserves or overcollateralised crypto loans, but through hedged derivatives positions that offset the value of its holdings in real time.

The story behind Ethena

Ethena Labs launched USDe in February 2024 and airdropped ENA to users two months later. What followed was fast even by crypto standards: USDe's supply grew to multiple billions within months, funded largely by positive perpetual futures funding rates that paid Ethena for holding its hedge, a mechanism that effectively let the protocol earn yield from the derivatives market rather than from any traditional interest-bearing asset. As the model scaled, Ethena added a reserve fund and exchange-settlement partnerships specifically to manage the counterparty and funding-rate risk that its critics had flagged from the start, an acknowledgement that the strategy's income is not guaranteed in every market condition.

What ENA is used for

You hold ENA to vote on which risk parameters, exchange venues and collateral types the protocol accepts, and you can lock it for enhanced rewards — giving holders real influence over how aggressively USDe's hedging strategy is run, since a more conservative set of parameters trades away some yield for a lower chance of the peg coming under strain during volatile markets.

Ethena in the market today

Ethena is one of the fastest-growing protocols in DeFi by supply issued, and ENA's fortunes are tied closely to something outside anyone's control: funding rates staying positive. In prolonged bear markets those rates can turn negative, squeezing the yield the whole model depends on — worth understanding before you treat USDe's stability as a given, since a synthetic dollar backed by a trading strategy is not the same guarantee as one backed one-for-one by cash sitting in a bank.

Fees and pricing

Zero added fees: Monivo does not add a platform fee, a minimum or a withdrawal charge — the rate you see is the rate you get. Blockchain network fees are shown in full before you confirm, and the final amount you receive is quoted up front.

Monivo does not add a separate fee or markup to the provider quote. Monivo may earn a commission from the liquidity provider when a completed swap is referred through our platform. Provider spreads and applicable network costs are reflected in the quoted amount.

Network fees are set by the blockchain, not by Monivo. No account, no subscription and no withdrawal charge. Live support is available 24/7.
