About Nano (XNO)
Crypto tokenNano (XNO) is a crypto token on the NANO network. It powers its project's ecosystem — used for things like access, governance, fees, or rewards — and trades freely against other digital assets.
How does XNO work?
Nano runs as a token on the NANO network, which means it benefits from that chain's security and tooling while serving the specific role its project defines — for example governance votes, platform fees, staking, or in-app utility.
What is XNO used for?
Holders use XNO to participate in the Nano ecosystem and to gain exposure to the project's growth. As with any token, its value is tied to real usage and demand for what the project offers.
How to buy or swap XNO
- Pick XNO as the asset you want to receive.
- Choose what you're paying with — crypto or a fiat card.

The story of Nano
A network with no fees and no mining sounds like a free lunch. Nano's history is the record of what it actually costs.
Why Nano exists at all
Colin LeMahieu started work in 2014 on a design aimed at two specific complaints about Bitcoin: confirmations were slow and fees were a permanent tax on small payments. The architecture he announced on BitcoinTalk in October 2015 as RaiBlocks broke with the single-chain model entirely — each account owns its own chain, and a transfer is two blocks, a send on the sender's chain and a receive on the recipient's.
The people behind it
LeMahieu was working at Qualcomm while building the protocol, and the project was unusually small for years. There was no ICO and no mining: the entire circulating supply was handed out through a faucet that required solving captchas by hand, running from late 2015 to October 2017. Distribution stopped after roughly 39% of the genesis supply had gone out, and the remainder was sent to a burn address.
The original bet
The bet was that consensus does not require an auction. Nano uses Open Representative Voting: holders delegate their weight to a representative node, representatives vote on transactions, and settlement is deterministic rather than probabilistic. Remove mining and the block subsidy, and there is nothing to pay for — hence no fee.
The turning point
Two events shaped what Nano became. In February 2018, shortly after the rebrand from RaiBlocks, the Italian exchange BitGrail reported the loss of a large amount of the coin; US class actions followed against Nano and core team members, and the courts granted the Nano defendants' motion to dismiss in part and denied it in part.
The second was technical. In March 2021 a sustained spam campaign flooded the network with near-worthless transactions, delaying confirmations by as much as days and prompting some exchanges to suspend deposits. A feeless network has no price signal to throttle abuse; Nano's answer is a small proof-of-work attached to each block, and prioritisation work has continued since.
A detail most summaries leave out
Nano's supply is not a round number by accident. The genesis block held (2^128 − 1) / 10^30 units, and the final circulating figure — 133,248,297 — is simply what the faucet distributed plus a 7,000,000 development allocation, with everything else burned. The odd-looking number is a record of how distribution actually ended.
The question that is still open
The spam episode named Nano's permanent trade-off precisely: fees are also a defence. Without them, the network relies on per-transaction proof-of-work and prioritisation rules to keep throughput honest, and each refinement is a judgement about whose transactions get served first under load. It works well in normal conditions; the question is what happens under a determined, funded attack.
What this means when you swap XNO
Transactions are feeless and normally confirm in well under a second, which makes Nano one of the fastest assets to receive in a swap. Addresses use the `nano_` prefix (older `xrb_` addresses map to the same accounts). There is no memo field.
Two practical points. Your wallet computes a small proof-of-work per transaction, so a low-powered device can feel slow even when the network is not. And a receive is its own block: some wallets pocket incoming funds automatically, others show a pending balance until you accept it — if a swap looks like it has not arrived, check for a pending receive before raising a ticket.

Fees and pricing
Monivo does not add a separate platform fee. The quoted receive amount reflects the executing provider's pricing and applicable payout costs. Your sending wallet or exchange may charge its own network or withdrawal fee. The amount shown is an estimate; fixed and floating quotes follow the provider's terms.
Monivo does not add a separate platform fee. Some partner quotes include a small affiliate margin that is retained by Monivo as a referral commission; this margin is included in the rate shown, not added on top. Provider spreads and applicable network costs are also reflected in the quoted amount.
Network fees are set by the blockchain, not by Monivo. No account, no subscription and no withdrawal charge. Live support is available 24/7.

What fees apply when I swap XNO?
Monivo adds zero fees on top. The quote you see already reflects the strongest quote we found across connected providers, including their network and processing costs — all fees are included in the shown amount.
How can Nano transactions be free?
There is no mining and no block subsidy to fund, so there is nothing for a fee to pay for. Representatives vote on transactions using weight delegated by holders. The cost is pushed elsewhere: each transaction carries a small proof-of-work, and the network has had to develop prioritisation rules to handle spam.
My Nano arrived but my balance has not changed — what happened?
Nano transfers are two blocks: a send and a receive. Some wallets accept incoming funds automatically, others hold them as pending until you open the wallet. Check for a pending or unreceived balance before assuming the transfer failed.
