About Tezos (XTZ)

Layer-1 blockchain

Tezos (XTZ) is a proof-of-stake blockchain designed to upgrade itself: protocol changes are proposed, voted on by token holders and installed on-chain without a hard fork. XTZ is baked to secure the network and doubles as the voting instrument for every change the chain makes to itself.

The story behind Tezos

Arthur and Kathleen Breitman built Tezos around a specific irritation with the rest of crypto: hard forks split communities and rewrite history by force. Their answer was a chain that could formally amend its own rules through on-chain voting. The 2017 token sale raised $232 million, and then the project spent a year in an ugly governance dispute with its own foundation before mainnet finally shipped in September 2018 — an early, ironic test of whether a chain built to resolve disagreements peacefully could survive one about itself. It did, and has since executed more than a dozen self-amendments, most recently extending its reach with the Etherlink Layer-2 into the Ethereum ecosystem.

What XTZ is used for

Baking — Tezos's term for staking — is how you secure the network and earn rewards, and it is also how you get a direct vote on the next protocol upgrade rather than waiting for developers to decide for you. Tezos found an early home in NFT art platforms, where its low fees suited independent creators, and in institutional pilots with banks, luxury brands and sports organisations experimenting with digital collectibles.

Tezos in the market today

Tezos remains a mid-cap chain whose self-amending governance model has quietly influenced how the rest of the industry thinks about upgrades, even as its own on-chain activity stays modest next to larger smart-contract platforms. It now competes for developer attention against newer, higher-throughput chains that never had to solve the hard-fork problem because they were built without Tezos's original constraints in mind.

How to buy or swap XTZ

  1. Pick XTZ as the asset you want to receive.
  2. Choose what you're paying with — crypto or a fiat card.
  3. Monivo compares every connected exchange and routes your order to the best available rate.
  4. Paste your wallet address and confirm — funds arrive in minutes.

Fees and pricing

Zero added fees: Monivo does not add a platform fee, a minimum or a withdrawal charge — the rate you see is the rate you get. Blockchain network fees are shown in full before you confirm, and the final amount you receive is quoted up front.

Monivo does not add a separate fee or markup to the provider quote. Monivo may earn a commission from the liquidity provider when a completed swap is referred through our platform. Provider spreads and applicable network costs are reflected in the quoted amount.

Network fees are set by the blockchain, not by Monivo. No account, no subscription and no withdrawal charge. Live support is available 24/7.
